The City of Pyr

Pyr is a small city occupying a crack that is roughly 127 miles long, and at most 200 miles above the riverline, although much shallower in some areas. There are no other Cities within a 200,000 mile radius of it. It is composed of several thousand districts, and harbors 7 active Sarchi. This extremely low occurrence of Sarchi is likely due to it simply being quite difficult to find, a mere speck in the vast Lovian desert. Most pass it by, or are drawn instead to much larger, more conspicuous cities.

Notable Regions

Arjincia
Founder: Arjince
A mono-district political state, and the most recently unfolded district in Pyr. It is a broad, flat district with a roughly concentric growth pattern. Its layout is made up of rings of irregular, circular platforms which are raised towards the center. These platforms are covered in rings of spires that are themselves topped in smaller towers. The overall shape of the district lies somewhere between that of a tree and a skeletal muscle. The central position and rounded shape of Arjincia give Pyr the appearance of a giant eye staring up from the desert, with Arjincia as its iris. Indeed, the regions flanking it are even known as the ‘scera’ districts. Despite its youth, Arjincia is already one of the largest, and by far the fastest growing district in the city. It owes this to its highly regimented, production focused culture.

New Orichard
A tall, teardrop shaped district, the peak of which marks the highest point in the city. Arjincia encircles it, but it’s hardly lost among the forest. It’s singular, brassy tower has an elegant, ornate sculpture to it, starkly opposed to the unadorned, brutalist spires of Arjincia. Not only that, but it is much thicker than any of them, and at least three miles taller. The peak of New Orichard is the globular, glass-encased Apex Orichard, the haunt of the Sarchi Ulloa and her menagerie.

Sclera Sinistra
The suntouching districts left of Arjincia. To determine which Sclera is which, orient yourself towards the mountains that run along the border of the city, its ‘brow’, so to speak. Sclera Sinistra is on the left hand side.

Sclera Dextra
The suntouching districts right of Arjincia. To determine which Sclera is which, orient yourself towards the mountains that run along the border of the city, its ‘brow’, so to speak. Sclera Sinistra is on the right hand side

Arjincia’s basement
Arjincia, being a new district, has naturally grown on top of existing ones, casting them into permanent darkness. This is an inevitable consequence of the way Cities are constructed. However, because it is so recent, and because of the unique and guarded culture of Arjincia, contention is fresh in the hearts of those who were buried. The Basement districts are not a single, homogenous region: there are several independent states among them, united only by circumstance.
